Photography confession - I really hate lightroom

With a passion. I hate it.

Why does it even exist?! *my internal crow*

I’ve tried it, solidly for months, and months and months. I tried incorporating it into my ‘workflow’ seeing that it promises to help your workflow, everyone banging on about creative workflow, making things easier, that it’ll make editing easier.

HOW. What did you use before?!

For me, using Bridge and Photoshop is the best, most effective and efficient way of editing my photographs.

How I begin my photography workflow:

  1. Open my folder in Adobe Bridge to view all my photos

  2. I use a star process to select the images I want to edit

  3. I go through them 2 more times to thin it out

  4. Then intuitively pick the photos I want to edit first and they go into Camera Raw before opening them in photoshop.

  5. I tweak in Camera Raw but not much (I always take the sharpening off)

  6. Then I edit in photoshop, save and go back to step 4 and repeat.

Every single image is different and having just the one image on my screen means I’m not tempted to just put a grade over all of them and assume they don’t need TLC on each one.

Lightroom just seems like just an unnecessary step for me personally.

Sorry Lightroom - never again.
